Traditional (metal) filings can cause teeth to discolor and appear gray, even cracking the tooth’s structure over time. Porcelain onlays and inlays match your enamel and are virtually indistinguishable from your own natural tooth. Onlays and inlays actually strengthen and protect the tooth structure they are bond to. They preserve more original tooth structure than crowns and last longer than composite filings. They are an ideal alternative to mercury (amalgam) filings.
